Vanessa N Weber, MSW, LCSW, has spent decades helping people who have been burned at the hands of disreputable cult leaders, high demand organizations – and now, fraudulent psychics. An ex-member herself, she received her BA in Religion from Barnard College, (Columbia University,) attended Union Theological Seminary, and received her MSW from Wurzweiler School of Social Work at Yeshiva University. Along the way she co-founded what became the largest chapter of a group dedicated to helping people concerned with cults – and also a support group for ex-cult members. In addition to cults and psychics, her expertise is in the field of self-help, addiction and post-adoption issues. She is a licensed clinical social worker in Connecticut. Weber’s forthcoming book, Psychic Abuse, will explain how psychics dupe people, what kind of damage can be done, and how victims can be helped. It is the first of its kind.
